Recording Time
When Recording time is purchased an engineer will record your band in what is called a tracking session. Whats great about us is that we can travel to your practice space and record there if that is preferred. The engineer will then take these tracks and mix them accordingly to sound musically accurate.
*Depending if Mastering is purchased, the engineer will take each track and master the file to CD ready clarity and loudness.
Mixing
Mixing is already included in the Recording Time option but if you have tracks you may have recorded yourself; you can send them in to us to mix them professionally. This option will give your tracks clarity, and will be called a "final mix".
*Depending if Mastering is purchased, the engineer will take each track and master the file to CD ready clarity and loudness.
Production
Production is the term used when a producer takes a track and makes it sound engaging, and interesting to the listener. Some techniques that can be used are adding synth textures, creating sudden dropouts to accentuate other elements, autotune vocal processing, and drum programming.
Another service Applesauce Audio provides is the construction of your very own personalized song. What this means is that Matas Olsauskas (Ejion) can make you an exclusive instrumental1 or beat2 that you can sing, rap, or do whatever you please. You can either purchase them fully as stems3 or license4 certain beats for a mixtape.
(Prices are based on how many hours of work were used and the complexity of the track.)
Mastering
When Mastering is purchased the engineer will take a track and master the file to CD ready clarity and loudness.
1 - An instrumental is when the producer/engineer collaborates with your ideas to create a song in any genre that you want (the backing track to a pop song).
2 - A hip hop instrumental is casually referred to as a beat, and a hip hop producer is casually referred to as a beatmaker.
3 - A stem is an audio file in a group of audio files that have been recorded to be mixed by a mixing engineer.
4 - A license is when the beat may not be exclusive to one artist, but rather a number of people have bought the rights to use the same beat in either mixtapes or albums. The producer/engineer still owns all the rights to the beat and just "leases" it to multiple artists.
*licensed beats tend to be cheaper and more attractive to beginner hip hop artists
